The most recent volume, Seeing a Slice of Southern Africa My Way, published 31 December 2020, is a journey of continued self-discovery as I plot my way from multi-cultural South Africa with its complex society, to Malawi, with its picturesque and peaceful nature. This third book takes the reader through parts of Southern Africa, and offers a brief glimpse into a little of Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Blog post / Latest travels (12th July 2009)

Hi all, its Tony the traveller, bringing you another update.

Since my kidney transplant on 19th December 2008, I have been recovering slowly. Since the end of March I have been taking the opportunity to explore England during my weekends.

I began with Cornwall, Penzance to be exact – the most South-Westerly town in England. I used Penzance as a base to explore the surrounding area, even taking a day trip to the Scilly Isles.

Blog post / Going back on the road! (25th March 2009)

Hi all, its Tony the Traveller saying good news, I’m hitting the road after a long lay off.

My new kidney is working grand so I’m heading around England. I begin this weekend with a small trip to Penzance at the end of South-West England – the end of the country! Its just a four day excursion away to explore and get ready for longer trips later in the year.

My new mission is to visit every county in England before September and then head abroad.

Blog post / Another American trip (13th February 2009)

Revisiting America

Another journey to the US occurred over the Christmas and New Year of 2002–2003. I should have gone home, but not a huge fan of Christmas, I opted for three weeks in America instead. As a student, I managed to obtain a relatively inexpensive flight and was able to get a month Greyhound pass,

Blog post / A special secret story! (8th February 2009)

The wandering albatross is one of the worlds’ amazing species. It lives among the islands of the Southern Ocean ‘Antarctic Ocean’, leaving its home annually, sleeping on the wind. It soars through the air, its vast wing span enabling it to fly for months, hunting for seafood seeming to be beyond the parallels of lesser creatures such as humans. It flies in solitude, sleeping when necessary and only returning home to mate and recharge its batteries ready for the next adventure.

Blog post / All travellers (6th February 2009)

Hay all, its Tonythetraveller saying hi and Happy New Year. I am out of hospital after my successful kidney transplant from my Step Dad. We are both doing fine.
I am back living in my flat by the sea in Devon. I am getting stronger each day and soon hope to be on less medications. Unfortunately, I will not be going anywhere far until the end of April. Then it will only be round the UK and Northern Europe.
