Santo Domingo

Capital and largest city of the Dominican Republic with a population of over four million. Founded in 1496, by Bartholomew Columbus, brother of explorer Christopher Columbus. The city is the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the Americas. The city’s colonial-era old town, known as the Zona Colona, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tony inside the Altar de la Patria (Altar of the Homeland), a white marble mausoleum that houses the remains of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic: Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and Ramón Matías Mella. They are known collectively as Los Trinitarios: statues of the three can be partially seen behind. The mausoleum is located in Parque Independencia (Independence Park).

Plymouth, England, October 2019

Plymouth is a port city in England on the south coast of Devon, approximately 37 miles (60 km) south-west of Exeter and 190 miles (310 km) west-south-west of London. Enclosing the city are the mouths of the river Plym and river Tamar, which are naturally incorporated into Plymouth Sound to form a boundary with Cornwall.

View of the CN Tower located in downtown Toronto. This communications and observation tower stands at 553 metres (1,815 feet) making it the tallest free-standing structure in the western hemisphere. It was the world’s tallest free-standing structure for 32 years until 2007 and as of 2019 is now the ninth tallest. The tower attracts two million visitors a year.

Mayotte, May 2019

Mayotte is a small tropical island located in the northern Mozambique Channel in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of south-east Africa. It is part of the Comoros archipelago. Mayotte consists of a main island, Grande-Terre (Maore), a smaller island, Petite-Terre (Pamanzi), and several islets. It is an overseas department and region of France. The capital is Mamoudzou on the north of Grande-Terre.

The Dzaoudzi–Pamandzi International Airport is located on the smaller island of Petite-Terre.
