My eBooks are travel biographies of the observations and experiences of a totally blind and partially deaf man as he travels independently around the world having exciting adventures. The most recent volume, Seeing a Slice of Southern Africa My Way, published 31 December 2020, is a journey of continued self-discovery as I plot my way from multi-cultural South Africa with its complex society, to Malawi, with its picturesque and peaceful nature. This third book takes the reader through parts of Southern Africa, and offers a brief glimpse into a little of Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Blog post / A weekend in East Yorkshire (26th June 2024)

Recently returned from a wonderful weekend in East Yorkshire. After flying back from Greece late last Thursday, I spent the night in Gatwick Airport before catching an early morning train back to Devon. At the flat, I changed backpacks, threw in a few clothes and jumped on a long train bound for Hull on the east coast of England.

I arrived in Hull around 21:30 after a 6 hour journey that included changing in Taunton,

Blog post / Guided Day Tour, Lebanon! (1st June 2024)

Yesterday, 31st May, I did a guided tour to a couple of historical sites in Lebanon. With a driver-guide, booked online through Viator, we visited Anjar ruins, Baalbeck Archaeological site and Chateau Ksara, where wine is produced.
I was collected from my accommodation, The Colony Hostel around 8 am and off we sped out of Beirut and up in to the valleys and mountains, twisting and turning at pace with the wind blowing my ragged beard this way and that.

Tony feeding Llamas and Alpacas near Cuzco, Peru (25th October 2023)

Tony feeding a Llama, a four-legged, long-necked, hairy animal, native to Peru. They live in the Andes Mountains and are herbivorous, meaning they eat plant material, as seen in this video. They are related to Alpacas, who live in the same region and are also herbivorous. Tony met and fed these Llamas during his recent adventures near Cuzco, Peru, just before attempting to hike the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, which he partly achieved between 17th-18th October 2023.
Tony having another go at feeding a Llama (or is it an Alpaca?) Llamas are generally taller and larger.

Blog post / Peru and hiking the amazing Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! (24th October 2023)

I’m home now, back in rainy Devon after an amazing trip in the Andies Mountains of Peru! I joined a group of wonderful people to try and hike the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, due to the mountain being too steep and full of rock steps of varying height and size, combined with the roughness of the trail and altitude, plus my lack of fitness,I failed to complete the challaenge, but I did hike roughly a third of the trek and feel proud of my attempt.

Tony in Sarajevo (18th September 2023)

Tony is on a cable car going up a mountain on the south side of Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on a lovely sunny day. The cable car ride is very peaceful. Tony is alone in the small windowed cabin. The scenery must be fantastic, but Tony can’t see it, so, he’s just enjoying the quiet ride!
