Blind trip of world

Intrepid Tony Giles has completed a solo world trip – despite being born blind and partially deaf.

Tony, 28, visited 31 countries in every continent on the 200,000-mile journey. The American Studies graduate climbed a mountain in Canada, skydived in Australia and rafted in New Zealand.

Despite having his tent stolen and his pocket picked, Tony, from Birmingham, said: “Travelling when you’re blind is easy. You trust people more. I can feel surroundings. I’ve learned to use my nerves, touch and sense of smell.”
